I, as you can maybe tell, am not one to take delicate care of my footwear, but I think that the scuffs and the rips and the dead shoelaces show how much I love the shoes? I use them so much because I love them. It… makes sense. And now I’m talking about loving shoes, and I’m sure I’m starting to sound like a materialistic monster, so I’ll stop and share my love stories with these shoes.

These Boots Were Made For…Obnoxiously Posting About Them on the Internet (And Making Disgusting Attempts at Puns in the Title)

Black and White
In a desperate attempt to make my computer just a bit less slower, I tried to wipe as much off the memory on the hard drive as possible, starting by erasing the millions of pictures I’ve saved over the past few years. Past the flings at “art” I made in Microsoft Paint and all the embarrassing self-portraits, I noticed I had a strange collection of Black-and-White pictures I have not a single clue where I found… but I was glad I saved them somehow.
I do want to erase as many pictures as I can, because they’re of no use, but I didn’t want to let these go, so I think I’ll let them be kept safe in this nice little corner of the internet.
Black and white pictures, you were obviously important at some point, because I wanted to save you in my computer (except for Macca pictures, those were obviously there because I love you), and I don’t want to let go of you completely. You can stay here. I’ll come visit once in a while, maybe you’ll remind me of some sort of happiness.
Naturally, there’s a lot of Beatles and Parisian cafes.

A bit ago I posted my sad story on how I truly cannot dance, and was encouraged by the abundance of “you’ll get the hang of it” comments. I believe you, so I’ve been practicing.
I found that there are many ways to truly master the art that is dancing, but not enough ways to get through specific types. For example, I don’t know how to even approach the Salsa or Mambo or any sort of Latin dances. I’d like to learn how to dance to doo-wop and Motown (and master the Mashed Potato).
Anyway, this is the type of music that them whipper-snappers listen to today. I don’t know how to categorize this music, other than the fact that every time I listen to this music, I daydream of dancing to intricately choreographed pieces to them. And it makes me sad, because to be able to dance to intricate choreography, you need to be able to dance at all. Which is what my GOAL is for this year.
Seriously, though—show of hands, who listens to their music and doesn’t sometimes daydream that they’re up on some stage, singing it? I’ve found that by playing this music really loud (really loud) gets me motivated—plus, I can’t hear my wheezy breath or my feet stomping awkwardly on the floor or anybody else, which makes me feel like nobody can hear me.

Marina Diamandis
“Vintage, cheerleader, and cartoon” is what Marina Diamandis describes her style as. And when I first heard her music two years ago, as a completely influenced freshman in high school, I was hooked. Finally deciding that I wanted to establish some legitimate taste in music, her bashing of “squeaky pop queens” and eccentric style intrigued me. Especially as, obviously, a freshman, where I thought that my music preferences were better than everybody else’s, most whom were still humming “Tik Tok” by Ke$ha in class.
